No one knows for sure whether Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates even eats at McDonald’s these days, but we do know he wouldn’t have to pay. Gates is reportedly in exclusive company as the holder of a “mythic” McGold Card, guaranteeing free food for life at the burger chain. And now you could join the club, too.

McDonald’s is running a new promotion this month to encourage use of mobile order and pay through its app, with one lucky soul being randomly chosen to receive a McGold Card. The contest started last Friday and ends on Aug. 24. McDonald’s says the prize will be awarded as two meals per week for 50 years.

Business Insider reported on the legendary status of the card, bestowed by franchisees on local heroes and on celebrities by powerful executives within the iconic company.

Mitt Romney, Rob Lowe and Warren Buffett are among those eating for free. Buffett once said that his card allowed him to order unlimited free food in the Omaha, Neb., area, where he lives.

But Buffett’s best bud, Gates, can use his card anywhere he wants, around the world, according to Buffett.

“Only the most luminary individuals hold the card … and the truth,” says the ad promoting the gimmick.
