Will Tuesday be a good day? It will be for those attending KubeCon + CloudNativeCon in Seattle this week if they’re fans of the legendary rapper Ice Cube.

The cloud-computing startup Mesosphere is taking tech conference musical guests to a fun new level by presenting a side event Tuesday night called Ice Cube-Con. A website dedicated to the performance even reads “Straight Outta KubeCon” in a nod to NWA’s 1988 debut album “Straight Outta Compton.”

The afterparty at The Showbox Market in downtown Seattle will feature drinks, food and dancing, with doors at 6:30 p.m. and Ice Cube expected on at 8 p.m. The conference — which is a flagship event for the Cloud Native Computing Foundation — is sold out.

The longtime gangsta rapper made a name for himself in the late 1980s and throughout the ’90s, first with NWA and then as a solo artist. He has also starred in a number of films, including “Boyz n the Hood,” “Friday” and “Barbershop.”

He famously rapped in the 1993 hit “It Was a Good Day” about a variety of things that made one particular day in time special, such as the fact that “the Lakers beat the Supersonics.”

We’ll see if he touches on that Seattle sore spot when it comes to the city’s lost NBA franchise. Hopefully he can just work “Kubernetes” or “container” or “Linux” into a rap.
