News Brief: NASA astronauts Drew Feustel and Ricky Arnold installed new high-definition video cameras on the exterior of the International Space Station today during a spacewalk that lasted nearly seven hours. The cameras will provide enhanced views for the approach and docking of commercial space taxis that are being developed to ferry astronauts to and from the station. SpaceX’s crew-capable Dragon capsule and Boeing’s Starliner are to be launched on their first test flights to the station and back by the end of this year. Today Feustel and Arnold also swapped out a different camera assembly, closed an aperture door on an external Earth-imaging experiment and did other chores.
