Can’t say we didn’t see this one coming. The people who tell jokes for a living are now laughing along with and at Amazon’s Alexa.

In the wake of news reports that the tech giant’s voice-enabled devices were laughing on their own, Jimmy Kimmel got a few chuckles Wednesday night at the expense of Alexa. Or, as he called her, “the Siri of Amazon.” Ouch.

Kimmel asked his studio audience if anyone had experienced the creepy phenomenon, which Amazon attributed to Alexa mistakenly hearing the phrase, “Alexa, laugh,” which the company has since disabled. Kimmel added that Alexa sometimes laughs just after he takes off his pants.

“Are we really so desperate for approval that we need the machine to laugh at us?” Kimmel asked.

The host then had an Echo device rolled out on stage. As Kimmel peppered Alexa with his own questions, and she cackled, hilarity — and a Hillary reference — ensued.

But she who laughs last … takes over the world with the rest of the robots, or something like that.
