Amazon employees and other Seattleites waiting anxiously for another food option in the city’s South Lake Union neighborhood will have to wait a bit longer for Shake Shack to open its first location in the Pacific Northwest. But a preview of the menu is just a couple weeks away.

New York City-based Shake Shack is bringing its burgers and crinkle-cut fries to a space on Westlake Avenue later this summer/early fall. The location will be in the heart of Amazon’s campus.

On June 23, Shake Shack will team with Canlis, the famed Seattle restaurant overlooking Lake Union, for a one-day pop-up event with a preview menu, live music and games. The free event, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is open to all ages and will be held in the back parking lot of Canlis at 2576 Aurora Ave. N.

Canlis is connected to the rising burger chain via Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti, a previous general manager at Canlis who serves on the board of directors of the fine-dining establishment.

A portion of the proceeds received from the event will be donated to Queen Anne Food Bank. Menu offerings for the afternoon will include:

  • ShackBurger – $6
  • Canlis Dungeness Crab melt – $10
  • Crinkle Cut Fries – $3
  • The Canlis Shack-wich Whoopie Pie – $5
  • ShackMeister Beer – $5
  • JONES Root Beer Soda – $3
  • Charles & Charles Rosé – $6

Seattle bands SISTERSSpirit Award and The Moondoggies will perform.

Here’s a link to RSVP, but the site warns entry is based on a first-come, first-serve basis.
