Compete in a year-long televised contest. Beat out 36,000 candidates. Complete rigorous cosmonaut training in Russia. Then — travel through space.

This is just a fraction of the journey of South Korean astronaut Dr. Soyeon Yi, who traveled to the International Space Station in 2008, becoming the first and only Korean astronaut to get to space. On June 5, she’ll share the story of her journey during a fireside chat at Seattle’s Pacific Science Center.

The lecture, part of the center’s Science in the City series, also includes a meet-and-greet. The event begins at 7 p.m., and doors open at 6:40 p.m. The event is free to attend for Pacific Science Center members and tickets cost $5 for non-members.
