Geared Up is back after a break, and we’re jumping in with a review of a new Echo Show competitor: Lenovo’s Smart Display, powered by the Google Assistant. GeekWire contributor Tim Ellis has been testing the device and joins co-hosts Andru Edwards and Todd Bishop for a hands-on with the device.
The takeaway: The Smart Display much better designed than the Echo Show, but doesn’t quite have all the functionality that Tim (and other Google Home users) probably want.
Plus, we round up all the recent news from Apple, including a hands-on with Andru’s new, souped-up 2018 MacBook Pro. We also dive into the rumors around the iPhones predicted to be released in September.
And finally, Todd gets excited about the Nintendo Switch and especially the new Labo set, the DIY cardboard controllers that turn the Switch’s joy-cons into a variety of fun add-ons. He says the Switch is convincing him it might be time to move on from his decade-old Xbox 360.
