On the latest episode of Geared Up: Microsoft and Amazon have been talking for more than a year about the impending partnership between smart assistants Cortana and Alexa — and finally, the time has come.

We got our hands on the new integration this week and put the smart assistants’ relationship to the test. While the assistants can work together on some simple tasks, like checking email and controlling smart devices, they aren’t quite BFFs yet… more like awkward acquaintances.

In the gaming world, Microsoft and Sony both announced new custom controllers this week. The Xbox controller is themed around the battle royale smash hit Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, which comes to the Xbox One in early September. Plus, Apple is making a surprising jump into budget computers with a new low-cost MacBook.
