Many Microsoft products have long supported a “dark mode” to make late night work easier on the eyes, though that hasn’t been the case for the web version of the Outlook email program. Soon that will change.

Responding to an Outlook.com feedback post asking for the feature, a Microsoft team member wrote earlier this week “We’ve actually been working on Dark Mode for a few months now and you can expect this in the product soon.”

The incoming Outlook.com dark mode follows a sneak preview last year for Halloween. In the feedback post, the Outlook team member indicated that the Halloween preview was a prototype, and the company has redone the colors and code a few times since then.

The Outlook team member didn’t say when dark mode would be available, hinting only “that day is coming very soon.”
