Homelessness is a complex, thorny, and heartbreaking crisis that all of us are trying to better understand. A few weeks ago, GeekWire and The Evergrey started asking readers to share their deepest curiosities and questions about homelessness in Seattle with us. The goal was to answer some of them to learn more about what causes people to become homeless and how we can help.

Last Thursday, as part of the #SeaHomeless media day, we published our first answer to a reader question. Flying Fish Partners co-founder Heather Redman asked, “what are other cities doing that works and why aren’t we as effective?Read our answer to her question here.

Now we’re doing it all over again, this time in partnership with The Evergrey Crosscut, KUOW, ParentMap, Patch, Real Change, and SeattlePI. Together we received nearly 400 reader questions and each outlet narrowed them down to three for this voting round. Vote on the question you would like to see GeekWire answer below and then head over our partner organizations to vote on different sets of questions. By the end of this project, reporters across the Seattle media landscape will have published at least 10 stories answering questions from our readers.

It’s been fascinating to read so many questions from Seattle-area readers. If you’re curious about what we’ve learned, watch some of the reporters working on this project chat about it during a Facebook Live discussion hosted by Real Change. It will be streamed from The Evergrey’s Facebook page here.
