If you’re a fan of Amazon’s Prime Original television series “The Grand Tour,” the stars want you to go straight from watching to actually being in on the action.
“One second you’re watching us, messing about in cars, and the next you’re in the middle of it, doing our jobs, wearing our trousers,” says Richard Hammond in a promo for a new “Grand Tour Game” announced Monday for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. “In our game, you don’t have to be an expert to harness the horsepower and keep it on the track.”
The Amazon Game Studios release promises to “transport players to exotic locations, where they’ll drive the world’s most interesting cars, and participate in the show’s outrageous challenges.”
The episodic racing game will feature new installments added weekly during season three of the show.
The show’s signature Eboladrome test track is featured and hosts Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May provide hours of voice work. “The Grand Tour Game” also offers four-player splitscreen, so players can race against each other.
“It’s a video game featuring me, the crashy one, and the slow one. That’s all you need to know,” Clarkson said in a news release. “If you’ve always wanted to come on the road with us, this is as close as you’ll ever get. Unless you kidnap James and steal his face.”
“The Grand Tour is about powerful cars and ridiculous stunts, but it’s also about camaraderie,” said Craig Sullivan, creative director at Amazon Game Studios in Seattle. “We’re committed to authentically capturing the spirit of the show: cars, banter with friends, and (mostly) friendly competition.”
