Ah, yes, it wouldn’t be fall without … wait. It’s not even Labor Day yet. Well, that doesn’t matter for lovers of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, an annual Starbucks concoction that was released this year with a month of summer still to burn.

We all probably know someone who can’t wait for the change in seasons and the release of the signature drink from the coffee giant. Flavor notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove … whipped cream and real pumpkin pie spices. Might as well watch some college football and put away 380 calories.

A little bit of research and some fancy maps from Daring Kitchen point to who among us might be the most and least excited about Pumpkin Spice Latte season. A heat map even tracks the hype in GIF form. Who doesn’t love the fall colors as they spread around the world?

Based on over 100,000 geotagged tweets tracked in the U.S. — and popular hashtags such #PSL #pumpkinspicelatte and #pumpkinspice — these states are leading the way in seasonal hype:

1. Tennessee
2. West Virginia
3. Washington
4. Oregon

5. Indiana

(Daring Kitchen Graphic)

In Tennessee, the drink accounted for 41 percent of all twitter conversation. That means that out of every subject, and every geotagged tweet, almost half of the tweets coming from Tennessee were about the PSL. The next closest state was West Virginia with 6 percent.

Michigan was the least excited. Only 1.2 percent of that state’s tweets were about the drink, the lowest of the 50 states.
