Mountain climbing, BASE jumping, skydiving, flying with a wingsuit — all of those things pretty much make the short list for activities that I’ll probably never try. But two French daredevils combined all four of those acts and added an especially compelling twist at the end to make for one of the more exciting viral videos you’ll ever see.

The video from action sports kings Red Bull has more than 2 million views since being shared on Tuesday.

It starts with Fred Fugen and Vince Reffet, of Team Soul Flyers, standing on a snowy perch atop Jungfrau mountain in Switzerland. Saying, “This is it, it’s the big day” and “Come on let’s go” into the camera, the two leap into the sky as a small aircraft flies past.

Their target: the roughly 5-foot opening in the side of that plane, or, a Door in the Sky, as their stunt was called.

The two men and the plane stream through the sky at about 85 mph over the mountainous landscape, roughly 10,000 feet below. “Go for entry, go for entry!” the pilot radioes.

With foam padding covering the inside of the airplane, one flyer and then the next find the opening and crash safely into the plane’s interior. As the group cheers and high-fives and fist-pumps, the pilot’s final radio command is, “The birds are in the nest.”

The daring nature of the stunt is reminiscent, in some ways, of what Luke Aikins pulled off in 2016. The Skydiver from Shelton, Wash., jumped from an airplane at 25,000 feet and landed safely — without a parachute — in a giant net on the ground. Aikins discussed how he did it in a talk at the GeekWire Summit that year.
