If the holiday gift tag is signed “Melinda,” chances are pretty good that that gift will be an inspiring one for any kid with a passing interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

In a new blog post and video on Medium, Melinda Gates has shared some of her favorite gift ideas to “encourage curious kids.” Her hope  — as a leading proponent of STEM education — is that the toys and books she calls out will “open windows to exploration and knowledge.”

Check out Gates’ picks:

Hape Quadrilla Marble Run: Imagine marbles, plus a train set, plus Legos!

Tin Can Cable Car Kit: Combines mechanical engineering and recycling!

Craft-Struction Box: Think Tinker Toys for the modern age!

Code-a-pillar: Introduce kids as young as 3 to the principles behind programming!

Read the full post for more details and Gates’ recommendations for a couple great books, too.
