The folks at Moment, the Seattle-based makers of lenses and cases for a range of iPhone sizes, are spreading the hardware love around a little bit. The company announced Thursday that it would be making products for the Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL.
Smartphone photographers interested in getting the gear for Pixel can get on board by supporting Moment’s current Kickstarter campaign. That effort, which kicked off on Feb. 7 with news of a lens and case line for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, has already raised $410,000 toward a $500,000 goal. The project has 2,807 backers with 36 days to go.
Moment founder Marc Barros told GeekWire at the time that the 3-year-old startup has gotten better at the design and engineering process and continues to obsess over what it takes to attract new customers.
Branching outside of iPhone to other phone makers should help in that effort.
“We are excited to finally bring Moment to the Pixel platform,” Barros said in a statement. “We have been waiting a long time to add our award winning glass to Pixel, one of the most complete camera phones on the market.”
He called the Pixel line, which was announced last October, an amazing camera that no one has made any high quality tools for. Moment products make Pixel a better camera, he said.
Thursday’s announcement includes news of three products:
- Photo Case: The first Pixel case “for people who use their phone as a camera.”
- Wide Lens: The new aspherical lens “that delivers the best image quality of any accessory lens on Pixel and Pixel XL.”
- Lens compatibility: The Moment Tele, Superfish and Macro will now work on Pixel and XL with the photo case.
