I follow an Instagram feed called Drunk People Doing Things because it serves as a reminder that sobriety can sometimes lead to better life choices.

I’m not so sure whether the woman in today’s random video is intoxicated or not, at least as much as others who show up on the feed, stumbling and bumbling their way into social media “stardom.”

But if you’ve ever dropped or cracked or completely lost your smartphone, her move is sobering in its uniqueness.

Leaning out of the passenger window of a fancy sports car, the woman loses grip of her phone as it pulls up to a crowd of camera-wielding onlookers. The phone bounces on the pavement and comes to rest under the rear right tire of the car.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!” someone off camera shouts, before the air drains out of his body with a final, “Ohhhhhhahhhohhhh.”

I’m reminded of a classic Ferris Bueller quote for these folks in their fancy car, and the rest of us staring into screens: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
