The kids might be out of school and the beach vacations may already be booked, but forget summer. Winter is coming. At least for fans of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”
A new trailer for season seven of the fantasy series was released by the network on Wednesday. A who’s who of “GoT” characters gets face time, including Sansa Stark, Jon Snow, Cersei, Jaime and Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Arya Stark, Brienne of Tarth, Theon Greyjoy, Davos Seaworth, Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish, Bran Stark, Tormund Giantsbane, Grey Worm, Yara Greyjoy, and The Hound.
The ice-cold imagery is countered by flaming swords and flying dragons, and be prepared for what looks like a lot of battles — by land, air and sea.
“When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives,” Sansa says in a voice over.
To further hype the return of the show, HBO is airing a marathon a marathon of the most wintry episodes from “Game of Thrones” Wednesday at 8 p.m. on HBO 2.
Season seven starts July 16.
