Code.org president Alice Steinglass

Code.org has quickly become a name known around the world. The nonprofit’s goal is to make sure every student across the globe has access to a computer and the chance to learn coding, computer science and other tech skills.

On Thursday, Nov. 9, people in the Seattle region will have a chance to meet Code.org president Alice Steinglass. She is one of two stellar speakers presenting at the next Hacker News Seattle meetup, a monthly get-together of people from all corners of the tech community.

Steinglass is a Harvard alum who spent 14 years at Microsoft before joining Code.org. For two years, she was a group program manager for Microsoft’s mixed reality HoloLens platform.

The other speaker is tech veteran Joseph Snell — who has founded five successful tech companies, which raised a total of $58 million — and was once an advisor to Elon Musk and Mark Cuban, among others.

Aside from talks by Steinglass and Snell, the event will also provide time to network and meet others in the community, plus a chance to win tickets to the GeekWire Gala. Now that’s a good deal!

The event starts at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, at Atlas Workbase. Find more details and RSVP here.

That’s one of the highlights from our GeekWire community calendar, the spot for geek and tech events in Seattle and the greater Pacific Northwest. See the full calendar here, submit your event here and keep reading for more suggested events over the next few weeks.
