Apple came out with a flurry of announcements this week — unveiling a cheaper 9.7-inch iPad, more storage in the iPad mini 4, a new (Product) Red iPhone, a Snapchat-like app called Clips, and new Apple Watch bands.

But is there any significant news among the new product announcements? And why did Apple choose to unleash them on a Tuesday at the end of March?

On this week’s episode of Geared Up, the weekly tech and gadget podcast from GeekWire and Gear Live, we take a closer look at all the new devices and features announced this week and speculate about what Apple could be up to longer term.

Hear GeekWire’s Todd Bishop geek out over the new Clips app, which he predicts will be popular with the kids. Gear Live’s Andru Edwards isn’t so impressed, but he does like the look of the new Red iPhone. And they both agree that some of the other features are head-scratchers.

Plus, Andru gives us some promised tips and tricks for getting more storage on the Xbox One and all the ports you’ll ever need on the new MacBook Pro.
