As of this morning, Facebook says there are a staggering 2 billion people worldwide using the social network every month.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the milestone in a few simple lines on Facebook, naturally.

Last week, with the 2 billion user-mark approach, Zuckerberg updated Facebook’s mission statement and cultural aspirations. He shared his reasoning at the inaugural Facebook Community Summit in Chicago.

“For the past 10 years, our mission has been to make the world more open and connected,” he said. “We will always work to give people a voice and help us stay connected, but now we will do even more. Today, we’re expanding our mission to set our course for the next 10 years. The idea for our new mission is: ‘bring the world closer together.’”

To celebrate 2 billion users — not to mention 4 billion eyeballs on Facebook ads — the company is launching “Good Adds Up” videos. The personalized videos recap likes, loves, and memories for individual Facebook users and highlight other members of the Facebook ecosystem who are using the technology for good.
