No, the headphone jack is not coming back.

But on the eve of Apple’s reveal of the new iPhone 8, plenty of information is already out there regarding what to expect from the 10th anniversary edition of the tech giant’s signature offering.

Lots of folks, including Forbes, were caught up in the leak over the weekend of the “Gold Master” version of iOS 11 and what it revealed, including:

  • Three new iPhones, including updates to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus which will carry the iPhone 8 name.
  • A more expensive ($1,000 to $1,200?) model called the iPhone X with a new design. Most notably an OLED edge-to-edge display.
  • A virtual home button.
  • Face ID to serve as an identifying unlock instead of Touch ID.
  • Dual cameras that are stacked vertically instead of horizontally.
  • Additional waterproofing.
  • Wireless charging.

The Apple Watch is expected to go LTE and be able to connect to the internet without a nearby iPhone. This “might truly change the way Watch apps work,” Fast Company said. “It would become possible to stream music and receive notifications while you’re out running or biking. Real time health monitoring might become possible.”

Apple’s special event kicks off at 10 a.m. PT on Tuesday, and will be the first ever from the Steve Jobs Theater at its new Apple Park — the spaceship-like 175-acre Apple headquarters in Cupertino, Calif.

Beyond the phones and iOS and Watch and Apple TV and everything else, getting a look at the venue itself will turn into a major attraction for Apple fans, as The Mercury News reported.
