Everyone’s favorite secret billionaire Santa, Bill Gates, has made the holiday extra special yet again for another lucky Reddit user.
Megan Cummins, who goes by VietteLLC, posted on Reddit Gifts Wednesday that she was the recipient of giant box from the Microsoft co-founder as part of the annual gift exchange run by the site. A self-professed cat fanatic, Cummins wrote in her post that she was “over the moon” and would love her secret Santa “for all eternity”
The pièce de résistance in the oversized FedEx delivery was a huge, grey, stuffed Pusheen cat, the popular animated web character. To prove it actually came from Gates, a picture was enclosed showing him cuddled next to the giant stuffy, holding a letter to Cummins that began, “I hear that you love cats … .”
Cummins said she read the letter 39,043 times to make sure it was really from Gates. He began participating in the Reddit Secret Santa in 2013, simply by signing up as any user would. Reddit Gifts, a giant online gift exchange connecting internet stranger-friends around the world, started in 2009.
“My life goal is to fully fund a no-kill cat shelter one day and reform the U.S. shelter system to be entirely no-kill,” Cummins wrote in her Reddit post. “Cats are my thing. My life-force, my happiness. However you want to put it.”
Beyond the Pusheen, Gates’ generosity included more than a dozens other items, as described by Cummins:
- $250 donation to The Friends of Feline’s Rescue Group.
- $250 donation to The Stray Cat Alliance.
- $250 donation to Town Cats.
- Stormy stuffed animal (Pusheen’s sister).
- Tiny Pusheen ornament.
- A book on cat shelters with a sweet note inside he wrote.
- A business book (I make and sell startups).
- Silly Dr. Who book for my coffee table.
- Dr. Who cardboard Tardis for the cats.
- $150 Gift card to True Grit.
- Miniature Austrian snow-globe with a teeny tiny white kitten inside. Stunningly beautiful craftsmanship.
- Commissioned, one-of-a-kind cross-stitch of me and my pal, Bill, and my 4 cats that says “Live Life in the Meow.”
- Japanese Daruma with a very sweet message attached to it.

Cummins said it was extra special to know that “at some point during my workweek, I was drinking coffee, writing a boring email, and Bill Gates was somewhere having a professional photo taken with a jumbo Pusheen and writing me notes about cats.”
