Amazon’s Alexa will now support Outlook.com calendars, meaning the voice-enabled assistant can now tell you what’s on tap for the day and also add events.
Echo and Dot devices previously only integrated Google’s calendar, but according to The Verge, Amazon quietly launched Outlook support this week.
To allow Alexa to access your Outlook.com calendar, you simply add it under “calendar” in the settings of your Alexa app in iOS or Android.
The devices still don’t support Apple calendar, but a Reddit user has written a skill on Github allowing users to add that calendar to Alexa.
An estimated 8.2 million customers own an Amazon Echo device, according to recent reports. Integrations such as the one with Outlook help Amazon compete with other voice-powered assistants, such as Google Home. Alexa already has more than 3,000 skills, giving it an advantage over the competition, and the ability to access multiple calendars will certainly add further appeal.
