Update: The group’s Twitter feed is now gone again.

The Seattle Police Officers Guild disappeared from social media on Monday after backlash over a Facebook post reacting to the shooting deaths of five police officers in Dallas last week. The group appeared to briefly return to Twitter before that page disappeared again.

Attempts to call up the union’s Facebook page and Twitter feed failed on Monday, according to The Seattle Times.

A Facebook post in the wake of the Dallas violence was widely condemned and eventually deleted last Friday. It read: “Dallas PD and their officers are in our thoughts and prayers…. The hatred of law enforcement by a minority movement is disgusting… Heads in swivels brothers and sisters… #Weshallovercome.”

Detective Ron Smith, president of the guild, told The Seattle Times it was removed because it had been taken out of context.

On Tuesday morning, the most recent tweet at the top of the @SPOG1952 feed was from last Friday and linked to the Times story about the removal of the post. It said the Facebook post was “not meant to offend anyone or any group.”

Facebook was still returning a message saying that the Guild page wasn’t available.
