Real World Seattle

Even if so-called “new Seattle” isn’t your thing, you didn’t really want to go back to a time in the city when the “Real World” was a cultural touchstone, did you?

Well, in case you missed it, the MTV reality series is back with a new season, once again shot in Seattle, and the trailer was mercilessly dropped on us this week.

In this, the 32nd season of a show that we can’t believe is still around, the new cast lives in a house in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Judging by the trailer, this is where the roommates shout, fight, fall down, party, apply hair spray and make out.

In 1998, the cast lived at the end of Pier 70 and was mostly famous because that one guy threw that one girl’s stuffed animal into Elliott Bay and then slapped her after she said he was gay.

The rub in 2016 is that all of the cast members are surprised to learn that they will be forced to live with people from their past who they had hoped to never deal with again — ex-lovers, bullies, family members … you get the picture. It’s why the show’s tagline is “Bad Blood.”

In a city that’s already having a hard enough time being polite about all the real changes taking place, MTV may be just fanning the flames.

The season premiere is Oct. 12.
