Obama VR
President Obama’s Marine One helicopter lands in Ahwahnee Meadow in Yosemite National Park in this screen grab from “Through the Ages: President Obama Celebrates America’s National Parks.”

We’re spoiled with a few great National Parks here in Washington State (Mount Rainier, Olympic, North Cascades), but we’re still envious of what President Obama got to see when he visited Yosemite National Park earlier this summer.

Now, via the wonder of virtual reality, we can join the president and gaze up at Half Dome or float in a canoe on the Merced River.

“Through the Ages: President Obama Celebrates America’s National Parks” is a first-ever virtual reality experience for the first family, and it’s now available in the Oculus Gear VR store and on Facebook, below, as a 360-degree video. The film was created by National Geographic, Felix & Paul Studios, and Oculus.

Thursday marked the 100th year of the National Park Service, and if you weren’t lucky enough to get out among tall trees or sweeping valleys, or take in high peaks and raging rivers somewhere, it’s worth looking at what Obama saw.

And check him out below, wearing a VR headset in the White House. Even he can’t get enough of what he experienced in person.
