To get a sense for the dynamic nature of the residential real estate market in the Seattle region, look no further than a four bedroom, three bath house in Clyde Hill, Wash., which was sold by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and his wife last week for just under $2.8 million, according to King County property records.

That was less than the original asking price of nearly $3.5 million, but still a healthy gain on the $1.385 million that the Nadellas paid when they purchased the house nearly 16 years ago. In other words, they nearly doubled their investment over that time.

Reports first surfaced of Nadella selling the home in January. Here’s how the listing described the property.

“Expansive western views of Lake WA, Seattle and Olympic Mts pour thru floor-to-ceiling windows in this open, modern-industrial influenced home. Clean lines & sleek steel anchor the free-flowing layout. Views continue to the spacious main floor master suite. An open loft above the great room is a perfect spot for your library or office looking out to spectacular views. French doors open to emerald lawns & outdoor entertaining areas. Perfectly placed on Clyde Hill, minutes to everything you need.”

In case anyone was worried, the Microsoft CEO isn’t leaving the region: The Seattle Times reports that the Nadellas bought a home in Bellevue, Wash., for $422,500 in 2013.
