Lyft extra stop

Tweaking your ride-sharing route without tweaking your driver is a delicate undertaking, but Lyft is building a new feature into its app that could make for a smoother ride.

The company announced Monday that it will soon be introducing the ability to add an extra stop to a Lyft ride, so you don’t have to get in the car and verbalize detour directions to your driver. Just add the stop into the app, and the route will update for the user and the driver.

If plans change along the way, the rider can delete the addition by selecting “remove stop.”

Fortune reports that Lyft riders manually change their destination 5 percent of the time in app. Recode obtained a leaked investor update which said Lyft’s total rides for July were 13.9 million. Five percent of that is 695,000 rides per month, which Fortune figures was enough to justify adding the new feature.
