Trending: Feds announce new restrictions on H-1B visas and plans to rescind ‘startup visa’ workaround

Vancouver Startup WeekendVancouver, B.C., is just across the Canadian border from Seattle — and like Seattle, Vancouver has a vibrant and growing startup scene.

Next Monday, Sept. 26, marks the beginning of Vancouver Startup Week, a week long event bringing together investors, entrepreneurs, and community leaders from around the globe to foster Vancouver’s unique startup and entrepreneurial environment.

This summit comes on the heels of the Emerging Cascadia Innovation Corridor Conference, which was held earlier this week with vows from Seattle and Vancouver tech leaders to challenge Silicon Valley.

The Vancouver Startup Week is filled with dozens of events — including panels, fireside chats, and even a hackathon — hosted by community partners throughout the city. Events run Sept. 26 to Sept. 30, more information and tickets available here.

That’s one of the selections from the GeekWire Calendar, our curated list of the Pacific Northwest’s top tech events. Keep reading and visit the full calendar for more.
