With a net worth hovering around $49 billion, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is certainly worth a lot of dough. But the real bread winner will be the person who lands this job at the social media giant.
In an ad posted out of its Menlo Park, Calif., headquarters, Facebook is looking for a bread sous chef. With over a billion people using the service and more than 50 offices around the globe (as the ad’s boilerplate states) it’s perhaps easy to forget that Facebook needs more than just programmers to make it all run smoothly.
The bread sous chef will report directly to the executive pastry chef and will supervise a small team. Items made from scratch, to help carbo load the Facebookers, will include: artisan breads, baguettes, hamburger buns, hot dog buns, rolls, pan breads and more.
Requirements include, obviously, excellent baking skills as well as knowledge of international breads.
The Facebook Culinary Team has its own Facebook page (duh) dedicated to daily menu items and shares more food photos than most of your hungry friends on Facebook and Instagram. The page for the corporate cafeteria, with 88,652 likes, lists a wide range of cuisines available and boasts that it is good for walk-ins and kids and to date has served 10,917,690 meals.
A Facebook search of Facebook Bread Chef also brings up a page for, of course, The Bread Chef, an artisan bread and pastry bakery in Youngstown, Ohio. Everything is done fresh daily by pastry chefs Kirsten and Mike, says the page liked by 1,075 people. “Time to place those orders for Easter!” says a post from March 8.
We’d love to see the paperwork if The Bread Chef chefs applied to be bread chef at Facebook.
