Snap-ins (1)Amazon Web Services today opened up generally availability of its Device Farm remote access service, which allows for testing of iOS, Android and web applications on real phones and tablets in the AWS cloud.

The service doesn’t use emulators, providing a more accurate understanding of how apps may bump against against memory and CPU limits, AWS said. Currently, only iOS and Android phones are supported.

The service also allows using open-source test frameworks including Appium, Calabash and Espresso, as well as manual tests and a built-in test suite. It provides a report on bugs and performance problems.

AWS is offering 250 minutes of the new service at no charge.
