smarthingsRobert Parker, most recently director of engineering at Amazon for the past five years, has taken a new job with Samsung’s SmartThings smart home arm.

The Verge reported Monday that Parker, who previously spent 18 years at Microsoft before taking on the leadership role with Amazon in 2011, is now the senior vice president of engineering for SmartThings.

Parker helped lead engineering work on products like Alexa, Fire TV stick, Prime Music, and more at Amazon, The Verge noted.

Now he’ll head up the engineering team at SmartThings, which was acquired by Samsung in 2014 for $200 million and sells an array of smart home-related products like motion sensors, water leak sensors, and more.
