What is it about getting Wonder Woman to the big screen?

That was the big question the Hollywood Reporter posed this week. After losing Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones) on Monday, the entertainment publication reports that the project has found a new director. Patty Jenkins, who was in the running to direct Thor 2, will take the job. At least for now.

“Selecting Jenkins helps Warners avoid what some saw as a gender bias against women directors helming superhero tentpoles,” THR writes. “Ironically, Jenkins would have been the first female director on a Marvel movie if she had continued on Thor 2. She will now become the first female director to handle a big project in Warner’s developing DC universe.”

Jenkins has previously directed Monster, the movie in which Charlize Theron transformed herself into, yep, a hideous monster of a human being to win an Oscar.

Wonder Woman is still supposed to come out in 2017 with Gal Gadot to star. Here’s hoping.
