It seems like Dr. Dre’s Beats products were having a charmed life…until now.

Yes, the mighty line of colorful sound gear that Apple purchased last year, which made Dre the highest-paid musician ever, has a speaker that’s become a little too hot to handle for some.

Apple issued a recall today for the Beats Pill XL Speaker. According to their site, “In rare cases, the battery in the Beats Pill XL Speaker may overheat and pose a fire safety risk.”

“Apple has received eight reports of incidents of the speakers overheating, including one with a burn to a consumer’s finger and one with damage to a consumer’s desk,” reports the Consumer Product Safety Commission, which has registered a total of eight complaints about the overheating speakers. The Commission also reports that about 233,000 units have been sold throughout the States and Canada to date.

To return your speaker for a credit or electronic payment for $325, fill out the web form Apple has posted on its site.
