This a.m., Bloomberg Business brings us this incredible look at the man who’s designed over four decades of those awesome Star Wars toys — including the first toy Millennium Falcon.

The profile features Mark Boudreaux, who jokes that his team first got the licensing deal for Star Wars gear in 1977 “with $50 and a handshake.”

Well, it’s been an amazing journey since then, especially for a juggernaut that is set to rake in up to $5 billion in toy sales in the coming months, as we reported yesterday.

In this Bloomberg video, you will not only completely geek out over Boudreaux’s office/collection of Star Wars toys, but you’ll get some insider knowledge as to what goes into the process.

He shares nuggets like for the upcoming Star Wars film, the toy designers just get to read the script — they have not seen the film. So they really have to wing it when it comes to some design elements. He says that they add modifications to some of the vehicles, or special add-ons, you won’t see in the movies.

“Sometimes we’re able to actually put our faces onto Star Wars characters,” he says.
