The Atlantic has a series of animated videos out, and today’s is simply delightful if you are interested in such things as rockets, hoverboards and self-driving cars.

“Here to There: An Animated History of Transportation” takes us from the invention of the canoe to hydrogen fuel-celled cars with plenty of wonderful surprises in-between: Did you know that skis were invented around 6,000 B.C.? Or that a very early version of a bicycle was called a “dandy horse”?

The original animated video short is one of a 10-part series from The Atlantic. Other topics online now include the history of housing, weaponry and hairstyles.
