If Instagram was boxing in your creativity, rejoice. You can now post your pics and videos in portrait and landscape, too.

In a post today, called “Thinking Outside the Square,” Instagram blogged that sharing the different-sized media was now possible.

“Square format has been and always will be part of who we are,” states the Instagram post. “That said, the visual story you’re trying to tell should always come first, and we want to make it simple and fun for you to share moments just the way you want to.”

Instagram reports that about one in five photos or videos posted don’t come in the square format, making it hard to share. They especially note how allowing landscape will help those posting video, because, let’s face it, no one wants to watch a square video.

It should be easy to use. Look for the “format icon,” or the “little arrows on the bottom left corner of the photo,” to adjust to portrait or landscape.

Updates are now available in Apple’s App Store and for Android users on Google Play.
