Where do you take a giant lizard who has wreaked a good deal of havoc on earth? Why, to hell, of course.

IDW has announced that its new miniseries, out in July, will take Godzilla to hell. “Godzilla will storm through the gates of hell itself, proving that the towering behemoth is King Of The Monsters both above and below!” IDW’s site writes.

The series will be five issues, with a “rotating creative team,” taking the helm, starting with James Stokoe, who also did the acclaimed Godzilla: The Half Century War.

“Drawing Godzilla must be my comfort food, because it feels really great to come back and work on pages with IDW again,” Stokoe said in an IDW statement. “Also, the list of amazing creators they’ve tapped for this series beyond my issue feels equally great as a fan, especially with the theme everyone gets to play with. You can’t get much bigger than Godzilla versus Hell!“

The additional issues will feature work by writers/artists Bob Eggleton, Dave Wachter, Ulises Farinas, Erick Freitas and Brandon Seifert, with more artists being announced closer to pub date.
