Here are Google’s ‘top trending searches’ for 2015 — tech gadgets included

Lamar Odom. Hurricane Patricia. Jurassic World.

These were some of the “top trending searches” of 2015, according to Google’s “Year in Search” report.

The lists “define the billions of searches across news, politics, film, entertainment, sports and more throughout 2015,” Google said.

Lamar Odom, the former NBA star who is recovering after being found unconscious at a Las Vegas brothel in October, was the top trending U.S. search — person, movies, event, etc. — while Hurricane Patricia was the most-searched natural event. Jurassic World was the top-searched movie; American Sniper, Straight Outta Compton, 50 Shades of Gray, and Furious 7 followed.

Worldwide, Odom was also the top trending search, followed by Charlie Hebdo, Agar.io, Jurassic World, and Paris.

As far as Seattle specifically, Odom was again No. 1 on the “top trending searches” list, followed by Seahawks star Kam Chancellor, who was involved in a lengthly contract negotiation that kept him out of this season’s first two games. Paris was the top trending news event; Jurassic World was the top trending film.

Technology-related products or companies were absent from the 2015 worldwide top trending lists, which contrasts with Google’s data from just two years ago. In 2013, devices like the iPhone 5S, Samsung Galaxy S4, and the Playstation 4 all made the top-10 trending list for global users.

Google, however, broke down data for “trending consumer tech” worldwide. Globally, the iPhone 6S was No. 1, followed by Samsung Galaxy S6, Apple Watch, iPad Pro, and LG G4.

In the U.S., Google only crunched numbers for top video game searches. Agar.io was No. 1, followed by Fallout 4, Mortal Kombat X, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, and Star Wars Battlefront.
