Airbnb released its diversity statistics Wednesday, accompanied by a blog post in which Business Affairs Chief Belinda Johnson said, “we’re determined to do better.”
The gender and racial gaps weren’t as wide as some of Airbnbs’ tech peers, but it’s still working to improve equality. The vacation rental startup is actively seeking a Head of Diversity to oversee recruitment as it continues to grow.
“We promote a culture of curiosity, humanity, and creativity through our product, brand, and, most importantly, our people,” said Airbnb in an Engineer listing on GeekWork, GeekWire’s jobs site.
Airbnb posted several listings on GeekWork this week, coinciding with the announcement of its diversity initiative. The company is looking for engineers, analysts, and a variety of other tech roles.
