GeeksGiveBack-logoGeekWire’s Geeks Give Back campaign, brought to you in conjunction with Bank of America, is 28 days old today.  That means we’re nearing the halfway mark of this year’s philanthropic endeavor.

To recap, we’re asking geeks (that’s you if you’re reading GeekWire!) to donate to the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship. The WSOS helps underserved students, most of whom are women and students of color, pursue education that focuses on STEM subjects. Many of these students are the first in their families to attend college. They’re smart, they work hard, and they need your help. If you’re looking to give to a great cause, search no further. This is it.

We have great momentum going into halftime.  Individual contributors along with corporate givers continue to add their support and donations are adding up.  As of this very moment we’ve raised $52,959.

Remember that Seattle angel Gary Rubens is matching every donation to Geeks Give Back up to $125K. Then the state matches that donation again.  Every dollar you give turns into four! That means we’ve raised $211,836 for STEM education so far. Can we break $250K by halftime?  That’s just $9541 (before it’s quadrupled).  Who will give? It’s so easy…just click here and dig deep.

Finally, congratulations to Geeks Give Back donor Janice Francisco. You are this week’s winner of a $250 gift certificate to El Gaucho!  Next week we’ll draw again from the pool of individual donors for a pair of tickets to the Pacific Northwest Ballet. All donors will be entered to win.
