Act-On Software has a new CEO, but the old CEO is still sticking around.

The Beaverton, Ore.-based marketing automation company named Andy MacMillan as CEO, while founder Raghu Raghavan moves into the chief technical officer role. MacMillan will oversee the company as it enters its next phase of growth.

“Andy brings specialized talent to Act-On with his proven track-record for driving business demand and furthering customer adoption,” Raghavan said. “His experience and background will be a huge asset for the rapid growth of the company and for the continued success of our customers. I am delighted that Andy has decided to step in as my successor and I look forward to working closely with him in the future.”

Raghavan announced he was stepping down as CEO of the company he founded less than a week ago, but his role and who was filling it wasn’t announced at the time. Act-On isn’t the first successful company Raghavan founded. Responsys, the online marketing firm he started, sold to Oracle for $1.5 billion in 2013.

MacMillan previously served as chief operating officer of the Salesforce product division and senior vice president and general manager at Data.com. He also held the vice president of product management role at Oracle after it acquired Stellent, where he also served as vice president.

“The Act-On team has done an incredible job building a world-class marketing product used by over 3,000 customers,” MacMillan said. “Marketers are under more pressure than ever to deliver results across all aspects of the customer lifecycle, and I look forward to helping our customers deliver amazing outcomes to their teams.”

Act-On provides a platform for companies to handle engagement efforts across the marketing lifecycle, making money off contracts that range from $500 to more than $6,000 per month.

The company has added about 1,000 clients since raising $42 million last year, with more than 3,000 companies now using Act-On’s marketing solutions. It is ranked No. 5 on the GeekWire 200 list of privately-held tech companies in the Pacific Northwest.
