Today in disgusting, Fitbit’s Surge is actually causing a rash in some users.

The news comes courtesy of TechCrunch, which reported that a few people are experiencing a rash from the smartwatch. In response, Fitbit told TechCrunch “that a very limited percentage of users reported skin irritation, and the reactions are not uncommon with jewelry or wearable devices that stay in contact with the skin for extended periods. After consulting dermatologists, Fitbit’s advice is this: Keep it clean, keep it dry and give your wrist a rest.”

Fair enough. If you’re not taking it off to shower once in a while, you are probably at fault, especially if you’re wearing it while working out. Fitbit offers these handy tips for taking care of it and your skin.

However, this isn’t the first time Fitbit has had issue with its smartwatches causing rashes. Both its Charge and Force, which was actually recalled after numerous reports of skin rashes, caused rashes, too. Fitbit claimed that nickel was the culprit.

The $250 Surge comes with a warning: “Prolonged contact may contribute to skin irritation or allergies in some users. If you notice any signs of skin redness, swelling, itchiness, or other skin irritation, please discontinue use or wear the product clipped over a piece of clothing.”

Enjoy your lunch!
