Can’t wait for your Apple Watch to arrive? No worries, why not make your own?

Thanks to Instructables, you can make this amazing Apple II Watch, a total throwback to the days of floppy discs, black screens and green type. There are nine steps to your beta Apple watch, which was designed by maker , who carefully outlines the construction on the Instructables site.

“When I set out to design the Apple II watch, I originally planned to create a faithful tiny replica of the classic machine in a wrist-sized form factor. While researching the design I began to ask if I really just wanted to make a miniature, or something altogether new? I settled on the latter,” Aleator777 writes of his mission. “The design would be a working device, heavily inspired by the form factor of the full size computer, but it would also be an imaginative exploration of a wearable tech world that began long before we had the technology to do so in a meaningful way.”

It’s a pretty cool retro product, one that is inspired by a brand that induces fond memories of the old-school Apple products — who can forget playing Oregon Trail on the old-school Apple IIs?

If you really want a blast from the past, as Gizmodo writes, get the book Keep it Simple: The Early Design Years of Apple, which also happens to show Apple’s 1980s attempt at making a watch.
