iMacRetina-Hero-PR-PRINTApple refreshed its all-in-one iMac line today, most notably updating the smaller 21.5-inch iMac with a 4K display. It also introduced new versions of its keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad with built-in batteries.

iMac27-Accessories-PR-PRINTBoth the 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMac have been updated with better screens.

Only the most expensive 21.5-inch model is getting the 4K display, but the 5K display found on the previous top-of-the-line iMac is coming to all 27-inch models. The new displays have improved color reproduction, which Apple says will improve the accuracy of on-screen images with a 25 percent wider color gamut.

All 21.5-inch models are getting a spec refresh with faster processors, faster RAM and better graphics. Higher-end models are getting Iris Pro graphics for handling images on the 4K screen. The 27-inch iMac line now comes with the sixth-generation Intel Core processor, AMD graphics and up to 32 GB of RAM.

While a lot of changes came to the iMac lineup, you probably won’t notice the difference from the outside. However, the new Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad got a huge redesign.

Gone are the days of keeping batteries on hand to have your mouse and keyboard juiced up; Apple’s new input devices are all chargeable by the same Lightning cable that charges your iPad or iPhone.

The new Magic Trackpad got the biggest update. The Magic Trackpad 2 has nearly 30 percent more tracking surface and can now detect Force Touch.

That means the gestures found on the MacBook lineup are now applicable on the big screen, and you’ll get haptic feedback instead of physical clicks when using it. The new trackpad also ditches the round battery compartment for a more wedge-like design.

While the trackpad got larger, Apple’s new Magic Keyboard is 13 percent smaller. The scissor keys introduced on the MacBook have been brought to this keyboard, along with the wedge-shaped design. The new Magic Mouse looks nearly the same, but is lighter and comes with a better foot for smoother gliding across more surfaces.

Everything announced today is also available to buy right now. The 4K 21.5-inch iMac will start at $1,499, while the standard 21.5-inch models still start $1,099. The 27-inch models retain their pricing schemes, starting at $1,799, despite the 5K addition.

The new input devices are all more expensive. The Force Touch-capable trackpad nearly doubles in price to $129, the keyboard is $30 more at $99, and the Magic Mouse 2 is $79–$10 more than its predecessor.
