Amazon Game Studios launched “Lost Within,” its latest mobile gaming title, for iOS and Fire devices today. It’s a survival horror game produced in conjunction with Human Head Studios, the makers of the well-regarded “Prey.”

The game is set in an abandoned asylum, where players must solve mysteries, build weapons and choose whether they will try to sneak around or go for an all-out attack when faced with a horde of enemies. When all else fails, they’ll be forced to run away and hide in order to live to fight another day.

Here’s a trailer that shows off the game for those people who are ready for a little scare in their morning browsing.

This launch is different than the others Amazon has put out: past releases have made their way to iOS after an initial period of exclusivity on Fire phones and tablets, but “Lost Within” is cross-platform from the get-go. It’s an interesting move from Amazon, but one that makes sense, since iOS has a much larger user base than Amazon’s hardware.

“Lost” is also a departure from Amazon’s other games simply because it seems like the goriest offering the company has put out to date. But there’s a big market for that: “Five Nights at Freddy’s” and its associated horror sequels have been big hits on iOS – perhaps Amazon can pick up a similar following.
