Hey Windows users, if you are looking for a quick way to connect to GeekWire’s latest news, check out our new live tile for Windows 8.1.

If you are using Windows 8.1/IE 11, when you visit “pin to Start” in the metro version of IE, you’ll get a selection of different GeekWire tile sizes that you can incorporate into your Start screen.

Better yet, the tiles are live, meaning they will poll for updates from our RSS feed, and you can get snippets of our latest articles right on the tile.

Adding a live tile like this was surprisingly easy. It took us about 15 minutes to create the four tile sizes. Sites can customize the polling to highlight any sort of updates they want show in the tile, but if your site has an RSS feed like ours does, it takes about 10 seconds. Microsoft offers an instant setup for RSS feed updates on buildmypinnedsite.com.

Enjoy!
