same-day-delivery-366x251Waiting for a new gadget you purchased online can be a frustrating experience. But a bit of thumb-twiddling is usually the price to pay for online selection.

For Verizon customers in Seattle, that wait has just gotten shorter.

The wireless company announced today that customers in 10 cities, including Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle can now choose same-day delivery of their newly-purchased electronics. Users who order something from Verizon’s online store by 10 a.m. local time on a weekday will be able to choose same-day shipping, and guarantee that their purchase will be delivered by 7 p.m. that night.

The program started as a pilot test in Philadelphia, and expanded last year to include San Francisco, New York City, Dallas and Pittsburgh. Especially for people who are looking to replace a broken device, same-day delivery is a major boon.

Of course, getting products that quickly doesn’t come cheap. Users will have to pay $19.99 for the privilege of getting their product delivered the same day, up from $14.99 for standard one-day shipping.
