geekwork1Yesterday the Seattle Housing authority announced Vulcan will buy three blocks in Yesler Terrace for just over $22 million. The investment company, owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, told The Seattle Times that it plans to invest $200 million in apartment buildings for the area.

Real Estate isn’t the only venture in Vulcan’s portfolio. The company invests in technology, media, education and international aid. Vulcan employs thousands of people nation-wide and now its hiring a Computing Engineer to support its executive team in Seattle.

A few weeks ago Airbiquity, a company used by automakers to deliver information and entertainment to vehicles, announced that it was adding apps from Slacker Radio and Stitcher to its connected car platform. The move will allow drivers to access music and podcasts that are shared over the internet. “By teaming up with Slacker and Stitcher this early in the game, Airbiquity has positioned itself to take advantage of future moves in the online radio space,” commented GeekWire’s Blair Hanley Frank.

The addition of these new apps means Airbiquity is in the market for a Mobile Developer for Android. The company is looking for someone to help integrate safe automotive “infotainment” systems that integrate smart phone apps. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of Android developer experience and a degree in Computer Science or Engineering.

Booking.com_logo_blueBooking.com, Team Lead Software Development

Job seekers open to relocating should check out Booking.com’s listing. The hotel reservation company, which is part of the Priceline group, is looking for an experienced leader to join its development team in Amsterdam. The Team Lead will write code, monitor the team’s progress, and mentor newcomers. The ideal applicant will have at least five years of relevant experience.

Booking.com is offering a competitive salary, a comprehensive relocation package, and visa support. The listing boasts “a wonderful, diverse, work environment in the heart of Amsterdam and a chance to work on a fast-growing, successful product” for the chosen candidate.

MozMoz, Lead Technical Recruiter

At the GeekWire Summit earlier this month, Moz CEO Sarah Bird discussed how the company’s hiring and staff structure differ from other tech companies. “We don’t have any sales people, but we have five community managers,” she said.

Now the marketing software company is searching for someone to help build out its unique team. Moz is looking for a Lead Technical Recruiter to manage its hiring department. The recruiter will develop and execute creative strategies for filling difficult technical roles, build relationships with hiring managers, and refine Moz’s existing recruitment process. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree and five to seven years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply. Moz is offering a competitive salary, 401K, stock options, and 21 days of vacation.

nokiahereHERE, DevOps Engineer

HERE, a Nokia business that specializes in mapping, navigation, and location services, is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join its Seattle team. The engineer will help manage the production infrastructure, assist product and engineering teams, and review and develop SLAs and IT standards.
