It might seem like a minor thing, but one of the complications for people who switch to Windows Phone is that the interface in the official Twitter app is completely different than on other platforms, including the iPhone.

At least it was until today. Twitter has addressed the problem with a new update that brings its now-familiar tabs to the Microsoft platform.

Twitter for Windows Phone, Version 2.0, is available for download here. In addition to adding the Home, Connect, Discover and Me tabs, the update adds new Live Tile integration, including the ability to pin specific searches and Twitter accounts directly to the Windows Phone start screen for notifications and quick access.

I’ve updated the app on my Windows Phone, and overall the experience is much better, although I have encountered some bugs, such as the inability to save searches. If anyone else tries it out, let us know how it goes.

Twitter last fall announced plans to make a Windows 8 app for desktops and tablets “in the months ahead,” but it hasn’t yet been released.
